Triathlon kicked off our major events for 2023 on Tuesday March 14, with 641 individuals participating across the day at Stokes Farm on South Eyre Road.
North Canterbury turned on the weather with a sunny and still day, which meant great conditions for the bike and run sections of the Triathlon. The water was calm and even warm for our participants to dive on in at the start line!
After only holding this event in November last year it was great to see the number of participants rising, with around 200 more students than the 2022 event. The particpants ranged from 76 schools which again is a jump from the previous years, it is awesome to see the continued and growing participation in these events!
Event Manager Georgia Thomson was pleased with how the day went "It was an awesome day out in the sun to see so many participants from a variety of different schools trying their best at the Triathlon this year. It was such a successful event with over 630 participants, and we couldn’t do it without the support and helpers that put together an amazing day."
A massive thank you to all the volunteers that made the day possible! An event like this can not go ahead without the support of these amazing people.
Special thank you to John at Canterbury Tri Club for all the guidance across the day and the continued support for this event, the farm owners for allowing us to use their property and to Fonterra for providing the milk at the finish line!
