The cooler weather didn't slow participants on Wednesday at Ngā Puna Wai from getting involved in Primary Sports Canterbury's Cross Country event powered by Frontrunner.
1,400 athletes took to the course to give their best across the 1km, 2km and 3km tracks. The main aim of the day was for tamariki to have fun! There was plenty of support to be seen and heard from whanau and friends; it was great! We thank you for encouraging young people to participate in these sporting opportunities.
This year we saw the highest number of AWD participants in Cross Country we have ever had - a huge congratulations to these students who brought enthusiasm and gave it 100%. Acknowledging that behind every AWD participant is an incredible group of people supporting their goals and making sport accessible to all young people.
Thank you to Christchurch City Council and Athletics Canterbury for supporting events like Cross Country and allowing our tamariki to get involved! And to Marcus from SportsSplits for his contributions. We are grateful to use the facilities at Ngā Puna Wai - such a fantastic experience for young people.
We look forward to hosting this event again and cannot wait to see all the smiling faces next year!
